DESCRIPTION:
APW - Illinois, Bunn, 19J, very rare Model 8, 16S, 14K gold HC recase with attractive engine turning and engraving detail including a flying bird within a heart shape to rear, shield within a heart shape to front, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, jeweled barrel, sunburst pattern nickel damascene, s#2658582. Gross weight of assembled watch 55.6 dwt (86.5 g). A very rare watch, the total production of the hunting case 19 jewel Bunn was only 100 made with all examples found within a single run spanning serial numbers 2658501 to 2658600. The last example we handled was in 2006 (which was incidentally a consecutive serial number, 2658581, to the present watch), and beyond these two examples this cataloger can recall having seen only one other offered anywhere during the past 20 years.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some curved scratches tight around case screw positions, some mild fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere, some toning of plate surfaces; dial reverse has been inspected and dial is a replacement that was made for a different model of Illinois mvt and has had one of its dial feet removed to allow it to fit on present mvt, dial with scattered outer chapter hls, edge chips at 4; fine hands with some areas of oxide and finish loss; case shows very little wear, inner front lid with a notch crudely filed to allow space for setting lever clearance, dent to band at 7, few dings to cuvette, excellent engine turning and engraving detail; tight bow, crown shows little wear; good glass crystal.
